How to fall in love - book review

How to fall in love is written by Cecelia Ahern of P.S. I love you fame. It is a sweet and enjoyable book about a man (Adam) with a wish list of things to make his life worthwhile and a stranger (Christine) who promises to help him accomplish his goals if he doesn't jump off a bridge.

She only has two weeks to accomplish this before his 35th birthday. She does not exactly have a professional background in self-help but more of a DIY approach stemming from her career as a Human Resources consultant.

The book has been written with humour and inherent sweetness. The scene with them driving around with Christine's niece chattering away will make you laugh. And Christine's past causing her trouble by spilling her private thoughts causes tensions in every relationship she has but in a hilarious manner. Christine realises too late that bringing Adam into her world causes her more embarrassment over her own personal problems.

Adam is filled with longing for a number of things and despite having a privileged life, he is very unhappy because of burden of expectations and broken relationship history. Will Christine be able to help him get the life he truly wants than what is being thrust upon him?

Despite the novel's suicide related narrative, it is a rather cheerful book about making most of one's life and changing priorities as life takes unexpected turns. Choose this book as your next holiday read for the warm fuzzy feels!
