7 Best books EVER!!

These fiction books are some of the best ever I have come across and I strongly recommend them to you.

Apart from being engaging and enjoyable, you will come out of these books learning something more about the world!

1. Atlas shrugged by Ayn Rand - This must be the mother of all dystopian novels. The author, an immigrant from Russia is delighted by the joys of capitalism and re-imagines how America will be under a communist regime.

In this story, a perfect lady meets three perfect men in an imperfect world. One who refuses to play the game in anyone's terms but his. One who will break his back keeping business his ethics in an overwhelmingly corrupt world. One who turns his back on his fortunes, family name and his one true love to make his friends' dreams come true.

The characters and the plot itself are larger than life and will enthrall you. And after reading this book, if you are ever unsure of anything in life, just ask - Who is John Galt?!

2. Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer - William Kane is a powerful and wealthy heir from Boston who displays extraordinary intelligence and discipline from a young age. He deftly deals with family problems,  business propositions and even plays a part in the war.

Abel Roznovski is a poor Polish immigrant in the US who is gifted, tenacious and resilient makes his way up on his own.

These two men unknowingly meet a few times and then in their prime clash a few times. Read this novel to follow and revel in the journeys of these extraordinary men.

3. Code to zero by Ken Follet - Rocket science, memory loss, broken relationships and conflict with the commies. This book has all the makings of a best seller.

Follow the journey of Luke as he wakes up in a public toilet with his memory gone. Step by step he builds his memory back, opens his eyes to all the blunders he had made in his life and races to make sure that the commies don't win the space war.

4. Verity by Colleen Hoover - This is the author's latest book and it also has the top spot despite being unlike all of her other books. It's a thrilling mystery with minimal focus on the romance angle. The twists in the tale create palpable tension and I was glad I wasn't home alone reading this as the story got to me.

As the plot unravels, you won't know if you like any of the leading characters. Read about other amazing works of Colleen Hoover here.

5. Gone girl by Gillian Flynn - When his wife suddenly goes missing, the hero's small town life quickly unravels into a mess. The diary of his wife and the evidence tell a different story to his. Which one will the police believe? Just when you think you understood what is going on in this plot, there is another twist!

This book was made into a movie in 2014 with Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and Neil Patrick Harris, one of those rare instances where a movie does excellent justice to the book. So you can read the book, watch the movie or do both like me!

6. Inferno - While Dan Brown's other works are more popular, this book is the most important and profound. It was made into a disappointing movie a few years ago. I won't recommend the movie but the book is a must read.

It deals with a problem no one likes to "solution" - overpopulation. And when one man finds a solution, what will the world make of it. Travel with Robert Langdon through Florence, Venice and Istanbul on a race against time to save humanity.

7. The Godfather by Mario Puzo - This is a cult classic book and movie series but I'm surprised by how many people haven't read or watched it yet. You will be transported to Sicily and New York of those days. And you will be amazed by how many other movies/TV series this book has inspired!!

Learn important life phrases like what it means to "hit the mattresses", "swim with the fish", "make your bones", "hit by a thunderbolt" and what is "an offer you can't refuse". The Godfather movie is really well made and has a young Al Pacino and Marlon Brando. It was so successful that it was developed into a trilogy! Need I say more?
